Double the cuteness!

It was my absolute pleasure to take some family portraits in a Spring Mini Session for Annie and Matt who are the loveliest people you could wish to meet and their two gorgeous boys, Tommy and Teddy.  I was only there for an hour, however I was made to feel so welcome and comfortable that I left feeling like I had been there all day!

When I got there, Tommy the eldest son was not too keen on getting his photo taken.   He came around soon enough (funnily enough after seeing me taking photos of his baby brother) and brought the cuteness in spades!  That cheeky grin just got me and we got some really gorgeous pics of him.  Even their family dog, Max, wanted in on some pics!  Why not I say, they are important members of the family too!

Annie and Matt’s goal for our session was to get some lovely shots of baby Teddy and to get some beautiful shots of them interacting as a family.  Anyone who knows me knows that I definitely DO NOT do matching outfits (current xmas card photos of my little girls might be an exception) or overly posed photos, rather natural and relaxed shots which truly reflect how my subjects behave, interact and feel.

I think these photos definitely show how much you love and adore your boys Annie and Matt – I hope you think so too!

Girls Just Want To Have Funds

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia.  Having seen how this harrowing disease has affected an incredibly brave family member and taken a dear family friend this year, fundraising for breast cancer is a cause that is very close to my heart.  As such, I have been involved in organising the annual “Think Pink Day” at my work for the past few years and several Biggest Morning Teas as my small way of helping to raise money and awareness for this awful disease which has also affected many people that I know.

I have been invited by a friend at work to come along to an event called ‘Girls Just Want To Have Funds’ for the past few years (she is on the organising committee) but have never been able to attend due to various reasons.  So when I was invited again this year and was able to go, I happily volunteered to take photographs on the night to capture all of the best moments of this very special event.  I had been told to expect a fantastic time but little did I know just how awesome this night would be.

‘Girls Just Want To Have Funds’ is a Girls Night In event held every year in October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) at the Springwood Football Club to raise money and awareness for womens cancer.  This is organised by a fabulous group of women who live in Springwood and surrounding suburbs who have decided to use their negative experiences with women’s cancer to create a positive outcome.  What started as a small night at one lady’s home with about 20 friends in the first year has grown each year to be a huge event with a much bigger list of attendees and massive amount of contributions from sponsors.

This year’s event was clearly the biggest, craziest and most successful yet.  115 ladies attended on the night and a total of $7,644 was raised which is an amazing effort.  That figure has contributed to an overall amount of $31,485 raised in the 7 years that this event has been held now.

Guests were treated to a glass of bubbly and a beautiful gift bag on arrival followed by a fantastic spread of food and dessert and DJ tunes that lasted all night.  There were several great games organised including ‘Who’s Your Daddy’ and ‘Bums and Boobs’ which were great fun and provided many laughs.  There was also a massive spread of raffle prizes ranging from beauty products to accomodation which were in hot demand.

The major sponsors for the evening included Yuva, Paul Simpsons DJ & Jukebox Hire, Pizza Lane Underwood, Miss Masseuse, Deux Belletes Accommodation, Menz Refrigeration Transport, Jacaranda Cottages, Personal Training Bikram Yoga Capalaba, Gold Coast Gondola, Millinery by Reginia, Ridge Jewellers,  Tamborine Cooking School, Tea & Niceties Mt Tamborine, Felicia McAuliffe, ProjectFIT Personal Training, Allara Homestead, Temple Massages, Gypsys Table, Avocado Sunset, Yalumba Wines, Variety Marketing Underwood, and Focus by James Springwood.  (My apologies if I have missed anyone.  If you would would like to be added to this post, please contact me at and I will gladly include your name).

The organising committee for this event put in a huge effort (special mention should definitely go to Janette Hickman who works on this project all year round) and should be extremely proud of all their hard work as this was such a brilliant night.

If you love a great night out with the girls and want to support a good cause, definitely buy a ticket to this next year and come along.

I know I will be there again – next time with crazy girlfriends in tow!

Giddy up for Melbourne Cup

The word spectacular could only begin to describe the 2012 Melbourne Cup event at Cloudland Bar which I was thrilled to photograph.

The weather was perfect, the fashions were amazing, the cold bubbles were in abundance and the fantastic entertainment continued all day.  It was definitely a full house with around 300 guests enjoying an amazing sit down 3-course lunch and and 100 guests mingling in a stand-up cocktail function upstairs.  (It was very hard to turn down the glass of champagne I got offered about 10 times through the day!)

Guests were treated to the cool soul funk sounds of Capitol Groove who took center stage and who only stopped jamming to join the crowd in watching the big race on the huge big screen and to check out the gorgeous fashions on the field put on by many gorgeous boutiques and stores from James St.

There was also a ‘Best Dressed’ competition where guests were handpicked to walk it out to win the titles of Best Dressed Female, Male, Couple and Best Hat/Fascinator.

Seven Network’s Ben Davis did a brilliant job of hosting this event and kept everyone amused and entertained all day.  Charity Sweepstakes were held to raise much needed money for the Mater Children’s Hospital which was very successful.

And let’s not forget about the fashions!  Guests went all out and looked absolutely amazing in bright colours, suave suits and beautiful fascinators.

Something tells me that Green Moon wasn’t the only winner of the afternoon.

Renee Gordon - What a fabulous day it was…. And the photos are spectacular….

High Tea for the Mummy-to-Be

I was really honoured and chuffed when my dear friend Stacey asked if I could take some photographs at her baby shower a couple of weekends ago.

Stacey’s Mum and Sister put on a stunning high tea, with tiered platters of delicious sandwiches and sweet treats all made with love.  We all enjoyed a cup of tea, fresh scones and stunning Baby Shower cupcakes which did not last long.  The baby shower had a yellow and white theme, with gorgeous yellow and white balloons and bunches of yellow flowers adorning the tables.

Stacey was then ‘showered’ with lots of beautiful gifts for herself and her bub, and also with a lot of love.  She is a beautiful person inside and out and it is no surprise that she has so many friends and family who treasure her and were there to share in this very important event with her.  All the girls then went and gushed over the nursery which has been done up in an Owl theme, complete with gorgeous coordinating cot sheets and accessories made by Stacey’s Mum.

The most poignant and adorable gift had to be the gift basket that Stacey’s Mother in Law presented her.  This had all of the baby keepsakes that she had for her son when he was a baby that she had kept in pristine condition, including baby record books, Bunnekins bowl, antique feeding cups and utensils, and gorgeous lemon shirts that she wanted to pass down to them for their first baby (that coincidently went really well with the yellow theme for the day).  Stacey was deeply touched as was Rob who had not seen many of these items and could not believe his Mum had kept them for all these years.

We don’t know if Stacey and Rob’s little bundle is going to be a girl or a boy (nor do we care), but this is one little chick that we can’t wait to hatch!

Robyn Brunott - What beautiful photos. A very happy time for the whole family.
Remember Robert in the yellow jumper and drinking from his cup. lovely memories shared. Thank you
